Summer Working Camps 2009 (TOGO)

CRAFTWORK CAMP
Human beings play a great role in development ; their inventions have transformed the world by giving it a noble aspect. This evolution has meant that in certain societies machines have replaced man, however in our african societies traditional values are always in fashion. Man can change its daily life through basic means. The village lavié- Apédomé is one of the villages that has been organised for development. In the village there is a group of women whom through their manual activities such as weaving have been given responsibility. The group consisting of up to ten women spread out their workload evenly and then when they sell their work they share the profit amongst themselves.
T .A.F
This year our association would like to internationally promote these women. Firstly, the volunteers would have to learn how to weave, then they would be able to help the women weave more and afterwards they will expose their weavings at the different local markets. Any money obtained will be used to promote this group of women.

Youth Activities/ Reforestation
The international solidarity is an unavoidable springboard towards a world youth exchange. The youth groups are brought together through the intermediary of work/activities and also by city partnerships. These encounters are arranged by a big meeting where one shares/exposes their cultural diversities; the integration of the youth from various backgrounds is strengthened by many encounters and events. This year the association JHL is organizing activities with young people from GBALAVE following the completion of a reforestation project and the creation of a garden.
Firstly, the foreign and local volunteers would like to help the development of good spirit amongst the children and the youth in general through the means of games, songs and diverse activities.
Subsequently, they will put plans together in order to aid the association in fulfilling its protection policy of the environment. The volunteers will pull out any weeds with a machete and then they can make holes in order to plant teak which is very profitable.

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT CAMP
The students level in schools is going from bad to worse to such an extent that the percentage of students passing exams has become very low. This worrying situation is spreading throughout our village communities. If nothing is done these children will be at an educational loss which could ultimatly lead to juvenile delinquency. Therefore the association is organising this summer classes in order to improve the level of all the young children in primary schools from cp1 to CM2.
The classes will take place between 8 :30 a .m to 11 :30 a.m and they will last up to 20 days.
At the end an evaluation will be made and prizes will be issued to the students who worked the hardest. In this way we will encourage the children to learn ; The activity sessions are designed in a way to give the children the joy of life because many of these children are vulnerable and often left to themselves.
