Profile :
Student(s) or young graduate(s) wishing to do a voluntary internship in french speaking part of Africa. (Urban /rural).
Domains :
The internships can be organised under the following headings : education, health, environment, art, international commerce...

Types of missions :

Relative to how much the volunteer wants to contribute , JHL can give you a specific mission that suits you and is connected to your field of work or facilitate the work of your micro project in helping you to meet Togolese professionals that match your profile.
You can also simply wish to observe or train in the framework of your curriculum/course (for example a student studying midwifery wishing to practice delivering a baby)

Stages of an internship :
We exchange e-mails following an open application or an application responding to an advert. In the case of an open application, you must inform us of your precise objectives in a letter of motivation attached to your CV.

  1. With this information in your folder JHL can study the possibility of placing you locally and search for an internship (urban/rural hospital, NGO, a public or private enterprise)
  2. If we are successful in our job hunt for you, JHL will confirm its capacity to organise your internship.
  3. When JHL has received a written agreement from you with regard to your acceptation of the specific internship, a formal agreement from the organisation will be sent by post with all the practical details. It might also be sent by email through an attachement.
  4. With our enrolement form and our agrrement from the organisation of the internship, you will go to your establishment for us to send your agreement of internship that we will return signed. There will be ,however, two agreement documents:
    • Three party aggreement (JHL/ your establishment/ yourself)
    • Two party agreement (JHL/yourself)which will be clarified under the material conditions of the stay.
  5. When the internship is done through your own initiative, only the agreement of the organisation of your internship ,that JHL will have sent you by post ,will be signed. (delay in transportation by post return could take up to three weeks)
  6. Amongst the documentation that JHL will send you, an approximate budget will be found and it will take into account all the costs that you will have in the agreement.
  7. An invitation letter will also be sent if necessary to carry out formalities regarding a request for a visa or any grant information.

NB :
In its entirety, the project is not financed. It is also worth noting that the work is not paid work, it is voluntary work. Moreover, in functionning under the capacity of a volunteer, he/she should be able to bring some material aids to the project and the association. It is an exchange between :

- A person who offers his/her time, his work and energy to help in a project of general interest. - And a welcoming community which is the benificiary of the project or the humanitarian work. The volunteer interns are not employees, they do not receive any salary. The voluntary service is not a means to earn a living or a way to finance oneself for a term but to reward oneself for making a contribution to a collective project. It represents an efficient way of educating oneself with complimentary training but it is especially a course on life which we often put forward to our voluntary interns.

TO BE A VOLUNTEER-MEDIUM TERM OR LONG TERM

A personal commitment, to know the interior of a culture and to live within a team in order to assimulate the objectives of a project.
To leave ones familiar environment and to adapt to another way of life with the habitants and the working methods and the communication as well as different languages. Voluntary participation for either medium term or long ter mis open to all whatever competence or whatever situation he/she is in.ous quelque soit sa compétence et sa situation. Only one voluntary step is necessary.

CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN AN INTERNSHIP One must have a minmum age of 18 years old or if under 18 parental autorisation will be necessary. A knowledge of the local language and of the region is not necessary, but simply the enthusiasm and the motivation to bring yourself to the challenge, to be confronted by a situation of a new life and to learn more about oneself and others. The internships can last from 2; 3; 6 months and even a year or more. For the interns or volunteers staying either medium or long term, within our association, we ask our interns to pay the registration fees any supplementary fees stated.

The registration fees and the enclosed file/folder:
