ORGANISATION
The group of unpaid volunteers is supervised by an activity coordinator, living together and working around 5 hours a day and five days a week. The daily tasks: purchases, food, washing etc. are done in turns by small groups/teams that will be trained. The volunteers will have three meals per day (breakfast- lunch - dinner)
ACCOMODATION
Volunteers are accomodated in permanent buildings (schools, youth centres, houses... ) at the rate of 2 to 5 people to a bedroom relative to the size. JHL can offer accomodation in Lomé to volunteers who stay a few days before and after their camps.
ACTIVITIES AND LEISURE
During the camps JHL organises an excursion and discovery walks, cultural activities and cultural and sporting get togethers between the volunteers and the locals. The group of volunteers organizes other activities and leisure outside of those organized by JHL for the group. (The birthday of a volunteer for example)
A day with a family is organised and those who wish to be placed in families again can pass the whole day immersed again in the life of a family . The debates and discussions under diverse topics are organized by the participants.
In turns, african nights are organised. Europeans and others according to their nationalities on the camp can prepare meals from their own country and can can talk about life in their country.
AIRPORT WELCOME
A team from JHL-TOGO are given the responsibility of going to the airport to welcome the foreign volunteers and then drive them to their specific working site/camo. In order to efficiently organize your welcome at the airport, we request that you inform us of your date, hour of arrival and flight references on time.
SOME AIRLINE COMPANIES FOR TOGO
Royal Air Maroc, Air France, Air Sénégal, Afriqiyah Airways (direct flight to TOGO), Point Afrique (landing at Bénin or at Burkina Faso: two neighbouring countries of Togo, followed by transfer by bus. Transport by bus is very handy between these two countries and Togo. … The cost of flight tickets must be paid by the voluteers.
VISA
All of the volunteers who are not natives of west Africa must have (vital) a visa to enter Togo. Contact the ambassadors or the consulates of Togo.
VACCINATION
MONEY AND BANKING
The currency of Togo is the Franc CFA (Communauté des Francs Africains). 1 EURO = 655,5 F CFA Foreign currencies and travellers check can be changed in the banks of Togo.
Money can also be withdrawn with a visa card but only at the main bank branch BTCI at Lomé and in the other villages of Togo.
